The One Word Dan Martell Says Is Killing Your Business Pitch

The movement is working.

Since we brought together 16 of the world's best entrepreneurs to help everyday founders chase their dreams, the feedback has been incredible. Real advice from people who've actually built billion-dollar businesses.

This week, Dan Martell, Bryan Johnson, and Roxie Nafousi reviewed three more pitches.

Each founder walked away with exactly the insight they needed to level up.

Click to watch the pitches.

Dan Martell Stops A Pitch Mid-Sentence

This dad and son team stepped up with their clothing brand idea. You could feel their belief in the concept, but something was off in how they presented it.

"We're thinking about putting together..." "We'd love your help to maybe make the dream come true..."

Dan Martell caught it immediately. "There's certain words people use that presuppose failure. You said 'we're thinking about.'"

His advice was direct: stop talking like you're unsure and start talking like it's already happening. "Pretend like you're six months in the future and it's done."

The founders have real passion for their idea. They just needed to match their language to their conviction.

Bryan Johnson Redesigns A Business Model

The coach pitched his fasting guidance service with genuine intention to help people improve their health through better eating habits.

Bryan Johnson listened and immediately saw a bigger opportunity. "I would make this very personal. I would create a group of people that fast together."

The coach was focused on individual sessions. Brian was thinking community transformation.

"Call it something like fasting with friends and stamp it out in the world where it's a social endeavor."

In one response, Bryan handed him a new business model, a name, and a path to scale. The kind of insight that usually takes months to develop.

Roxie Nafousi Loves The Mission But Wants Clarity

This founder has an incredible personal story. She overcame depression, anxiety, and addiction, and now wants to help others do the same through consciousness work.

Roxie Nafousi’s reaction was immediate enthusiasm. "I love her mission, I love she's got a story behind it."

But then came the crucial feedback: "I don't really know what she does. I don't know what her sessions include."

The founder had the credibility and the passion. She just needed to translate her story into a clear value proposition that people could understand and act on.

The value of getting feedback from entrepreneurs at this level is enormous. They've evaluated thousands of pitches and can spot exactly what needs to shift.

Each founder now has a specific direction for improvement instead of guessing what might work.

That's the power of getting your idea in front of people who've built successful businesses themselves.

What would Dan, Brian, and Roxie have spotted in your pitch?

Data Goldmine: Use 1 Simple Survey to Triple Member Engagement and Boost Conversions

How a 3-Question Survey created Traffic Quest!

Most surveys are boring data grabs and over the years, we've done our share of them. Sometimes we'd snare some useful info, but most of the time, the easier they are to implement, the less likely you are to get much information with any real value.

But when used correctly... they can become your most powerful sales research tool.

It was only when I helped my local Golf Club set up a member survey that it all became clear...

Club management wanted a whole lot of measurable data they could chart and track over multiple surveys, so they included a heap of questions with multiple choice answers. But when we got the data back, the results were all pretty much as they'd expected.

Where real value came was the open-ended questions where we let the members do the talking... what they liked, what they hated, what they wanted... basically how they felt about being a part of the club. And that was pure gold

So I decided to revisit the way we used surveys on our EzSitez websites. We ditched the long, ineffective surveys and focused instead on three simple questions. The answers didn't just segment our various lists; they revealed the exact emotional language our subscribers & members used to describe their pain points.

This intel created a virtual blueprint for the Traffic Quest program!

We've also used to to rewrite many of our email series and several of our sales pages using this customer-language... each with incredible results

Discover the exact three questions we asked, why they worked so well, and how you can model this approach in your own business today.

See the Survey Questions Here!

Last week I told you about the survey that helped create Traffic Quest. Just in case you missed it...

Here are the 3 Questions That Unlocked Everything:

  1. "What's the SINGLE biggest struggle you're facing with [their goal] right now?" (This identifies the primary pain point.)

  2. "What have you already tried to solve this?" (This reveals objections and past failures we need to overcome.)

  3. "If you could wave a magic wand, what would the perfect solution look like for you?" (This provides the exact language for the solution we offer.)

We've now used this same basic format in multiple surveys on multiple sites and list opt-ins. The information we get back is often quite specific to the site where we asked the questions, but there's also plenty of commonality we've been able to apply to all our sites.

Traffic Quest was a major beneficiary of this approach, but we've also rewritten many of our email series using this customer-language and in every instance we saw an immediate increase in click-through rates! (In one case it was over 40%!)

Where we've applied this to our sales pages, we've seen similar increases in our conversions. That was quite literally money in the bank from implementing a few simple changes, based on what our customers were telling us...

We saw similar increases on our free sign up sites as well. Those tend to be advertising-supported, so even there, better conversions equate to a better bottomline... so again, money in the bank just for listening!

So this is something we encourage EVERYONE to implement... ASAP.

If you are actively using Traffic Quest and you've set up the List Builder module, you are already in a position to do this.

Your Action Plan:

  1. Identify the key moment a lead becomes a subscriber within your various funnels.

  2. Implement a simple, optional survey using your email service provider.

  3. Ask open-ended questions that focus on pain points, past experiences, and desired outcomes.

  4. Use the responses to refine your messaging across all touchpoints.

I've been doing this a while now, but I'll still print out responses and add them to a folder.

Then from time to time I'll read through them... especially when I'm about to work on a new email series or update an existing sales page etc... to make sure my customer's specific language is fresh in my mind when I start writing!

Beyond the Hype: The Proven Formula for a 6-Figure Business and Endless Buyer Traffic

An In-Depth Look at The Click Engine

The Click Engine is an automated traffic-generation service designed for online marketers, with a specific focus on affiliate marketing. It promises to deliver "100% real buyer traffic" to a user's link on a daily basis for a low monthly fee. It is promoted as a "set-and-forget" solution that is particularly well-suited for beginners and those looking for a hands-off way to get visitors to their offers. Plus it offers the opportunity to learn how to make a six figure income, through someone who has already done it.

How It Works

The core of The Click Engine's model is a traffic-sharing system. When a user subscribes, they submit a single URL (which can be a landing page, an affiliate offer, or a business page). This link is then added to a "rotator" along with the links of all other members.

The traffic is generated through an email-based promotion system. The company sends out daily emails to its list of members, and each email contains a rotating selection of links from the member pool. The premise is that members click on each other's links, creating a constant flow of traffic. The company claims this traffic is composed of "real people who are genuinely interested in online marketing and digital business."

Key Features and Claims

  • "Real Buyer Traffic": The service claims its traffic is composed of active buyers in the make-money-online and digital marketing niches. The logic is that since members are paying for the service, they are "buyers" and are therefore more likely to convert on offers.

  • Affordability: One of the most significant selling points is its low monthly cost, often advertised at under $5. This makes it an attractive entry point for new marketers with limited budgets.

  • "Set-and-Forget" System: Users are told that once they submit their link, the system does all the work, eliminating the need for complex advertising or manual effort.

  • Beginner-Friendly: The platform's simplicity is highlighted as a major benefit, making it accessible to those with no prior experience in traffic generation.

  • Money-Back Guarantee: The product is often sold with a money-back guarantee, providing a layer of security for new users.

This program is great for building your list, and building a relationship up,  he teaching you everything you need to know, about being a success online.

Like what you see how, feel free to share it. I am enclosing the link to join it below.

Did You Know... Red Buttons Outperform Green By A Mile

 Hello

We got a few questions after the Button-Psychology email the other day, so I went digging for a bit more info... and came across this stats for Red vs Green buttons.

Interestingly, it's not about the colour as much as it’s about contrast.

In one large-scale survey of web-developers who'd tested this, Red buttons won by 21%… but only when the page lacked other red elements.

The data suggested that on a multi-coloured site, (that included red elements), Blue buttons were the best performing option.

And interestingly, on a green-themed site, green buttons might actually win... which appears to contradict the high-contrast argument, except that usage scenarios played into that one. (See below!)

See 3 surprising color psychology hacks for marketers…

=> Check out these Color Secrets!

When to Use Red, Green, or Blue Buttons

Here's some recommendations backed by hard data. Have a read now and take it onboard... and it will change the way you look at sales and optin pages going forward!

1. Red:

  • Best for impulse actions (e.g., “Buy Now”). These are generally quite high-contrast so the stand out and won't be missed.

  • Warning: Overuse feels aggressive. This could be why so many designers opt for Orange as a compromise... still good for prompting action but not quite so aggressive?

2. Green:

  • Ideal for trust-building (e.g., “Secure Download”). Lower contrast and more relaxed, these are ideal for situations where the visitor has already taken action and committed, and now you're onto the 'delivery' phase.

3. Blue:

  • Highest universal appeal (Facebook/Twitter use it). This is the 'if in doubt' option. If you're unsure, start here and then split test other options against this.

Golden Rule #1:

Test your audience and your design. Culture and niche will impact their preference and response. The other prevalent colours on your site will also make a difference to how your button colours are perceived.

Golden Rule #2:

Contrast is essential... especially as a lot of men are color-blind to some degree!

Most colours will work on a white background, but put them on a coloured background and they could be difficult to see for anyone in this group. (I speak from experience!)

Bonus Tip:

Create your own swipe file... when you see a combo you like use a Color Picker to note the backgopund and button colours. There are plenty of free browser extensions that do this 'instantly'.

Alternatively, just grab a partial screenshot and file it away for future reference!

Its definitely interesting.

Beyond Your Comfort Zone: The Power of Moving Forward.

Every action has an equal and opposite reaction.’

Set a goal to grow, and your brain fights back.

This isn't willpower. This isn't laziness.

It's your current self fighting for survival.

Steven Pressfield calls this psychological warfare The Resistance.

Your current identity sees your goals as a threat. Because achieving them means the old you has to die.

So it fights dirty. Self-doubt. Anxiety. Fear. Comfort. Whatever it takes to keep you exactly where you are.

When you're struggling to do the work that matters, the most ridiculous things become attractive.

Suddenly that drawer full of charging cables desperately needs organising.

The bathroom grout requires immediate attention.

Your desktop icons are crying out to be arranged by color.

Your brain will find the most bizarre distractions because it's doing everything it can to keep you from what actually moves you forward.

Here's the twisted part: the work is almost always satisfying when it's done.

When you finish, you think "God, I did it."

But before you start, that voice whispers "Let's check YouTube instead. Let's look at the news. Maybe something weird is happening."

Next thing you know, it's two hours later and you could have been building your business the whole time.

So how do you win this war? The only way through is through.

Show up and do the work. Not when you feel like it. Especially when you don't. Make it non-negotiable.

And every time you do, something INCREDIBLE happens in your brain.

Scientists have discovered there's literally a part of your brain called the anterior midcingulate cortex that grows bigger every time you push through something you don't want to do.

Think of it as your discipline muscle. The part that determines how far you'll push when things get tough.

Every single time you beat ‘The Resistance’, this brain region literally grows.

Each victory makes the next battle easier. Your willpower compounds. Your mental resilience increases. The voice that used to paralyse you becomes a whisper you can ignore.

Athletes have enlarged versions of this brain region. So do people who successfully lose weight. So do people who live longer.

David Goggins reportedly has one of the largest ever measured - built by running 12 miles every morning despite hating it more than anything else.

When that voice starts whispering excuses, think: "My current self is scared of who I'm becoming." Then do the thing anyway. With each win, you're building the brain that makes tomorrow's challenges feel like yesterday's warm-ups.

The closer you get to becoming who you want to be, the louder your current self screams.

That's how you know you're winning.

5 Tips to Attract Real Customers, Not Just Clicks

 Hello

When using traffic exchanges and solos ads/safelists to do advertising of your site, NEVER, use a sales page or a direct page to an affiliate link, or even a blog, ALWAYS use a bridging page, optin page or splash page, make sure all the important information is in the top fold of the webpage for the best click through rates.

To  use a bridging page instead of a direct sales page, is a common practice in certain types of online advertising. This approach is often used in situations where the traffic source is not highly targeted or qualified, which is typically the case with traffic exchanges, solo ads, and safelists.

Here is a breakdown of why this advice is given and why you should still be cautious:

  • Traffic Exchanges & Safelists: As we discussed before, these sources typically provide very low-quality traffic. The people "clicking" on your ad are often other marketers who are just trying to earn credits for their own ads, not potential customers. A bridging or opt-in page is a tactic used to try and "qualify" these visitors by asking them to take an action (like signing up for an email list) before they are sent to a sales page. However, this still rarely leads to a sale or a legitimate lead.

  • Solo Ads: These can sometimes provide slightly better traffic than a traffic exchange, but the quality can vary dramatically. You are paying to have your ad sent to someone else's email list, and if that list is not well-maintained or highly engaged, your ad will likely not convert into a sale. A splash page or opt-in page is used here to try and get the visitor's information before they see the main offer.

While the tactical advice on using different types of pages is technically correct for these specific platforms, it does not change the fundamental problem: these advertising methods rarely generate a return on investment in the form of genuine sales.

For a successful and sustainable online business, it is more effective to focus on attracting high-quality, targeted traffic from reliable sources. This includes methods like:

  • Content Marketing: Creating valuable blog posts, videos, or podcasts that answer your audience's questions.

  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO): Optimizing your site to rank highly in Google and other search engines for relevant keywords.

  • Targeted Social Media Ads: Using platforms like Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn to place ads directly in front of your ideal customer demographic.

These methods take more effort but lead to much more predictable and profitable results than relying on the low-quality traffic from exchanges and safelists.

Breaking out of a 3rd world jail cell - change your thinking.

You wake up in a jail cell on the other side of the world.

You get one phone call. Who do you call?

Stop and really think about this for a second. Not your mum (she'll panic). Not your best mate (he'll laugh). Not your partner (they'll cry).

You need someone who will DROP EVERYTHING and figure out how to get you out.

Someone who won't accept "impossible" as an answer. Someone who sees problems as puzzles to solve, not walls to stop them.

That person you just thought of? They have high agency.

And it might be the single most important trait you can develop if you want your dream to become reality.

Most people are waiting for someone else to give them permission to start. Waiting for the perfect moment. Waiting for more money, more time, more confidence, more knowledge.

High agency people don't wait. They start with what they have and figure it out as they go.

When everyone else hears "that's impossible," high agency people hear "nobody's figured it out yet."

When the Wright brothers decided humans should fly, the New York Times had literally published a headline saying "Man won't fly for a million years.

Did Wilbur and Orville care? Not one bit. They were too busy building gliders in their garage and teaching themselves aerodynamics from library books.

Four months after that newspaper headline, they were airborne.

Every entrepreneur who's built something meaningful has this trait. They don't ask for permission. They don't wait for perfect conditions. They definitely don't take "no" for an answer.

But you weren't born this way.

Watch any toddler for five minutes. They climb everything, build towers that defy gravity, and turn cardboard boxes into spaceships. Pure, undiluted agency.

Then we go to school. "Raise your hand. Follow the rules. Don't colour outside the lines." We learn to wait for instructions. To seek permission. To play it safe.

Your current self is fighting to keep you exactly where you are. Because change means the old you has to die.

So how do you reclaim your agency?

Start by changing the question you ask yourself.

Instead of "Why is this happening to me?" ask "What can I do about this?"

Instead of "I can't do that because..." ask "How could I make this work?"

Instead of "Someone should fix this" ask "How do I fix this?"

That shift in language rewires your brain. You stop being a victim of circumstances and start being the author of your story.

Take action before you feel ready. High agency people have a bias for action over analysis. They test ideas in the real world instead of perfecting them in their heads.

Question everything you've been told is "just how things work." Most rules are just suggestions that nobody's bothered to challenge.

And when someone tells you something is impossible, remember: they're probably right... for them.

But impossible is just another word for "hasn't been done yet."

Your dream isn't going to build itself. The world isn't going to magically arrange perfect conditions for you to start.

You have two choices: happen to life, or let life happen to you.

Which person would you call from that jail cell?

More importantly - would someone call YOU?
